James Belton Multi-Cultural Scholarship

General Information:

Honoring James Belton, the first African-American Governor of District 7. From Montgomery, Alabama, Mr. Belton was Governor from 2000-01.

Amount Awarded: $1,500.00

 

Eligibility Requirements: 

• Must be junior or senior college student with a diverse ethnic background.
• Major in an advertising-related discipline: advertising, marketing, communications, art/graphic design or journalism.
• Have an overall GPA of 3.00 or above on a 4-point scale.
• If selected, you would be expected to attend an AAF luncheon where you would be recognized.
Applications must Include:

• Cover letter
• Résumé
• 500 Word essay or an original design (What kind of design? It’s up to you. In the past we’ve received print ads, logos, commercials, photography, links to web page, social media app etc…)

Essay topics:

1. Find your inner media guru and dream up your own social media app. Establish and articulate a name, a brand, an image, a demographic and a purpose behind your app.

2. Love it or hate it. Don’t hold back–you’re the next big thing in advertising! Tell us about your favorite brand, logo, or print ad, or tell us about one you love to hate. Explore and analyze your selection using concrete reasoning and examples. Include a copy of the ad OR a link to access it online.

3. My personality and goals are suited to advertising because…

4. For students in art, design, photography, etc.: my speciality is important to advertising because…

Applications should be submitted to info@aafchattanooga.com by April 3, 2017.
Scholarship applications will be reviewed by a panel of AAF board members. Selected recipients will be announced in July.

 


 

 AAF Rising Star Scholarship

General Information:

The Chattanooga club is part of the national American Advertising Federation, which acts as the “Unifying Voice for Advertising.” The mission of the club is “to serve area advertisers and related professionals by upholding and promoting professionalism in the advertising industry.” Part of this commitment is to encourage future advertising professionals. As such, a scholarship will be awarded to eligible students in the Chattanooga area with a major pertaining to marketing and advertising.
